Water Reuse Project of the Year – Western Corridor Recycled Water Project
Veolia Water commenced operations of the Western Corridor Recycled Water Project in south-east Queensland as the scheme's operator. This project achieved international recognition through the Global Water Awards . The plant was recognised as the world's best, winning the Water Reuse Project of the Year.
Membrane Desalination Plant of the Year – South East Queensland Desalination Plant
In 2009, Veolia Water commenced operations of the South East Queensland Desalination Plant as part of the Gold Coast Desalination Alliance. The plant was recognised for its environmentally-friendly design and construction and won the 2009 Membrane Desalination Plant of the Year in the Global Water Awards.
Australian Business Award for Environmental Sustainability
The Australian Business Awards are a national awards program, honouring organisations that demonstrate the core values of business excellence, product excellence, sustainability, innovation, and commercial success in their respective industry sectors.
On the 23rd of July 2010, Veolia Environmental Services was presented with the Australian Business Award for ‘Environmental Sustainability’, that recognises our company as an industry leader in the commitment to the enhancement, preservation and protection of the environment.
UNAA World Environment Day Awards Best Specific Environmental Initiative - Woodlawn Eco-precinct
Veolia Environmental Services was named as a finalist in the United Nations Association of Australia (UNAA) World Environment Day Awards, under the category ‘Best Specific Environmental Initiative’, for Veolia's Woodlawn Eco-Precinct, 250km south of Sydney.
The Woodlawn Eco-Precinct accepts approximately 500,000 tonnes per year of putrescible waste from the Sydney metropolitan region, and uses this waste in the generation of green energy, as well as compost for the ongoing rehabilitation of this previously used mine site.
